What to Expect
Screening Process
We are all in this together
Patients
After you and your patient determine which test is appropriate, blood should be collected from the patient, and depending on which test is being ordered, certain ultrasound measurements or blood pressure may be needed as well. The patient’s sample, along with some additional medical information, will be sent to NTD Eurofins.
NTD
Once NTD receives the patient’s sample, we get to work right away! The sample will be processed and analyzed by our expert laboratory team. We strive to provide highly accurate results as quickly as possible. NTD will send all test results directly to you.
Health Care Provider
After reviewing NTD’s report, the health care provider will discuss all test results with the patient and offer potential next steps as needed. Genetic counseling services are also available through NTD to provide more personalized help for the patient to better understand the result and make more informed decisions.

Report Comments Option
Eurofins NTD’s prenatal screening reports are known for providing clear, detailed results when screening for risk of Down syndrome, Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome), Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome), and early onset preeclampsia. We also offer optional valuable comments added to your reports that flag the risk of other potential adverse pregnancy outcomes associated with your patients’ extremely high or low analyte levels. Abnormal analyte levels are associated with preterm birth, fetal loss and a host of other maternal and fetal complications.
With these comments, you can provide your patients with a more comprehensive pregnancy risk assessment early in their pregnancy.
How to Opt In for Additional Report Flags
Additional screening report flags for potential adverse pregnancy outcomes are strictly optional as a value-added service for our customers. To have these flags added to your patients’ screening result reports, or if you have any questions, please contact your Genetics Account Executive, or call us at 1-888-NTD-LABS (683-5227).
eReports Customer Portal
Our eReports customer portal gives you the ability to search result reports for all of our test offerings.
eReports also offers Instant Risk Assessment software, enabling trained medical professionals to present a complete risk assessment for Down syndrome and Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome) and Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) and/or Early Onset Preeclampsia during a single office visit and ensures same-day results notification for the patient when utilizing the first trimester screening tests available from NTD.
Instant Risk Assessment
Instant risk assessment protocol helps alleviate unnecessary anxiety for the patient and her family by providing early answers in the first trimester.
Receiving Test Results
Clients can receive reports in hard copy form, through fax transmission, by downloading a PDF from our eReports portal or via HL7/EMR. If a test result is abnormal, NTD will also alert the account and confirm receipt of the report.
Hard Copy
Although many clients still choose to receive a hard copy of their reports in the mail, some clients who use one of the other transmission methods have chosen to turn this option off. If you would like to turn this option off please contact client services.
Fax
To receive reports via fax, please supply us with the destination fax number and we will transmit all of your reports to this fax number. You also have the option of receiving faxes only for abnormal results.
PDF Download
If you would like to download PDFs, you must register for an account in our eReports system by contacting our client services team. During the registration process, you will be asked to supply us with a list of users who will access the system. In addition, we will need an e-mail address to which we will send a link for each report.
HL7/EMR
For those clients who have HL7/EMR connection with the laboratory, an HL7/EMR record of the results will automatically be transmitted for each result.
Secondary Location
Clients have the option of providing us with a list of their referring physicians and we can transmit a copy of each report to the referring physician in addition to the report sent to your office.
