Meet our Leadership Team

Nickolas Mitilenes


Nick serves as President of NTD Eurofins, joining in 2020.  He has previously served in an executive capacity at full-service clinical reference laboratories with areas of expertise in esoteric testing and advanced technologies in the specialties of molecular microbiology, endocrinology, and genetics.  He brings significant expertise in assay and process innovation, business development, operational and financial management, and regulatory compliance.  Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology from Colgate University.  He is currently pursuing a Master in Business Administration from the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, where he is also an EMI Fellow, and a Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership from Weill Cornell Medicine.  He is also credentialed as a Diplomate in Laboratory Management (DLM) and a Technologist in Molecular Biology (MB) from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Terrence Hallahan, Ph.D.

Laboratory Director

Terrence Hallahan

Dr. Hallahan has been a part of NTD Eurofins for over 23 years. He studied at Washington State University, where he earned his Ph.D. and served as a teaching assistant from 1983 to 1984. He earned an NIH Fellowship from the National Heart, Lung andBlood Institute while working at the Center for Biochemical and Biophysical Sciences and Medicine, Harvard Medical School from 1988 to 1991. Dr. Hallahan served as Research Scientist for Enzon, Inc., in Piscataway, New Jersey, where he earned the Enzon, Inc. Inventor’s Award three times between 1992 and 1993.  He assumed a leadership position at NTD Laboratories as Research Director and Assistant Laboratory Director in 1995. He is a member of the American Society of Human Genetics and has authored and co-authored numerous articles, reports and abstracts relating to prenatal screening in major medical journals.

Jonathan B Carmichael, Ph.D.

Laboratory Director, Senior Manager Research and Development

Jonathan Carmichael

Dr. Carmichael  is a Laboratory Director and senior manager of Research and Development at NTD Eurofins. He obtained his doctorate in Cell Biology from the University of Alberta, Edmonton where he identified novel proteins involved in RNA interference and cell cycle regulation. Dr. Carmichael has authored numerous articles, abstracts and book chapters in the field of prenatal screening while maintaining his focus on identification and use of novel biomarkers related to disease states often found during pregnancy.

David Krantz

Director of Biostatistics

David Krantz

David Krantz is the director of biostatistics for NTD Eurofins. He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in statistics from Columbia University. He has made scientific presentations on prenatal screening at the annual meetings of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine and the American Society of Human Genetics. He has authored numerous articles, reports and abstracts in medical journals. David was the coordinator of computer services for the BUN study, a large-scale, NIH funded, prospective study on First Trimester Down syndrome screening.

Khadim Moustapha

Clinical Laboratory Supervisor

Khadim Moustapha

Khadim Moustapha is the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor at NTD Eurofins. He is responsible for overseeing the daily laboratory operations,  from specimen accessioning to the performance of laboratory testing. Khahim provides training and conduct competency assessments of all clinical laboratory staff on laboratory procedures and processes as is required by NYSDOH and College of American Pathologist (CAP). He ensures that quality control and quality assurance requirements are being met and adhered to. Khahim is a licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist by New York State Department of Education (NYSDOE). He has been on the clinical laboratory staff at NTD since 1985 when he joined as a laboratory technician.
